If you notice an excess of steam and longer brewing time, it's time to descale your machine. Use a non-vinegar descaling liquid and follow these steps:

  1. Fill the tank with water and a household descaling agent of your choice to the MAX level.
  2. Place the milk frothing cup under the built-in steamer and turn the dial on the machine to the central dot. Press the " ON/OFF" button once and wait while the machine starts heating up and the POWER indicator will illuminate with a red light.
  3. Once your machine has completed the heating phase, the READY indicator will illuminate with a green light. Make two cups of coffee (roughly 2oz) by turning the dial on the machine to "ESPRESSO". Next, turn the dial to the central dot, and wait five seconds.
  4. When the READY indicator flashes green, turn the dial to "STEAM" and wait for two minutes before turning the dial back to the central dot to stop the steaming process. Press and hold the "ON/OFF" button for about three seconds and your machine will turn itself off and all indicators will not have any light indications. Allow for the descaling agent to work for at least 15 minutes.
  5. Restart your espresso machine and repeat steps 2 to 4 at least three times.
  6. With the dial set to the central dot, turn the knob to "ESPRESSO" while the "READY" indicator is green. This allows your machine to flush out any remaining descaling agent.
  7. Ensure that the tank is filled with water to the MAX level, before setting the dial to "ESPRESSO". Repeat steps 2 to 4 at least three times until there is no water left in the tank.
  8. Repeat step 7 three times to ensure that your espresso machine is in full working condition.

Here's what you need to do: Fill the water tank with the right mix of descaling liquid and water, place the milk frothing cup under the built-in steamer, and press the "ON/OFF" button. Wait for the machine to power up and the heating process to begin. Once the POWER indicator turns green, run the machine as if you're making two cups of espresso, and follow the steps as described above. Repeat the descaling process at least three times, making sure to flush out any remaining descaling liquid when done.
